Spring has Sprung

My post today is a collection of spring fun.
I saw these normal jars turned cuteness over at Eighteen25.
The only problem is keeping the candy in them for decoration.
Here's mine. One jar I found at Goodwill, another is a maraschino cherry jar
and the last is a jam jar. I found the candle sticks at the Dollar Tree and
just spray painted them white.
Not too hard, but super cute!

Here is what my holiday table looks like

I found two vases (if that's what their called) and filled them with grass and eggs. I found some little flowers and butterflies at Dollar Tree. They were on skewers, but I wanted to make them into garland. You can see I didn't get far with that idea. Maybe next year. I found a cute picture of my kiddos during Easter and then here is the link to my "Spring Sign".
I like having a holiday table and my house decorated. It makes me feel like I have accomplished something and helps me enjoy my house more.


We also did a little "Egging" this weekend. I found the idea at a few different places, but liked the poem over at Sun Scholars. I just went to Dollar Tree and bought eggs, baskets and candy. It only cost about $3.00 for each basket of eggs. The whole family had fun "Egging" some of our friends.

One more idea, which I have yet to do. I love My Mix of Six and this cute Hand print Chick. I am planning on doing this next week and am excited to see how it turns out.

Spring Wreath

For the past couple of weeks, Juli and I have been discussing a spring wreath. We have gone through many that we have seen at various blogs. We finally decided on THIS spring wreath over at Mary Janes and Galoshes.

This wreath cost almost nothing or about $2.00. All of the supplies I had at home except the wreath, which came from Dollar Tree. This wreath isn't hard, it just takes time. Mine took me about 5-6 hours over a period of a few days. (This also includes kids fighting, husband kissing and all the other blessings in a mom's life!)

Items you'll need:
*Wreath
(mine was 13' and Juli's was 18')
*Scrap fabric
*Glue gun
*Package of lunch bags
(20-25 for mine. 40ish for Juli's)
*Scallop punch
*Ribbon
*Unsharpened pencil
*Flowers, butterflies etc for decorating.

1.We took some of Juli's scrap fabric and tore it into long strips. We covered the wreath and then hot glued the end. This will make it easier to glue on the scalloped flowers.

2. Punch out your scalloped flowers. We got about 8 punches out of each bag.


*Tip: Some of the punches came out double. I just took some scalloped scissors and cut them in half.


3. Push the end of the pencil into the middle of the flower and curl the sides up around the pencil. Place glue on the end and secure it to your wreath.

4. Keep doing this until the whole wreath is filled. Save a few flowers in case you see a hole later. *Tip: make sure you look from every angle. Sometimes you need more flowers on the side or in the middle.

5. Glue or tie ribbon around your wreath.

6. Decorate how you would like.

Juli had an idea about making it so you could change the decorations for different seasons or holidays. I ended up taking some fishing line, no I don't fish, I just had some on hand. I tied the line around my wreath. It's clear so you can't see it unless you look really close. I then took an alligator clip (for hair) and started trying out different things.

I took a cereal box and cut it into a rectangle. I then organized my flowers how I wanted them. I glued them to the cardboard and glued the clip to the cardboard.
It's so easy to change out the flowers, which means I won't get bored looking at the same wreath for a month. The clip variation is endless.



So there you have it. A wreath for all season.

SPRING BLOCKS

Spring is HERE!!!

Finally!!

(well, at least for a couple days! but I'll take what I can get!!)

To celebrate, I decided to make spring decorations for my mantle. I love letter blocks, like these ones that Jacki and I made, but I'm really trying to craft with things I already have. While going through my craft junk, I found some small blocks that were given to me a long time ago. They were smaller than what I wanted, but I decided to work with what I had! Here's what I came up with.

I painted the blocks pink, then mod podged scrapbook paper on all sides. I used my cricut to cut out the letters, and then did a final coat of mod podge to seal it.

Unfortunately my mantel isn't very deep, so I couldn't put anything other than a few fake flowers to finish it.
But I really like how it turned out!

But wait, there's more....!!!

While I was making these, I realized that Happy Spring and Happy Easter have the exact same amount of letters. So, I put letters on both sides of the blocks. All I have to do is turn the blocks around and VOILA!!

This will make switching decorations so much easier!! I found the idea for the Easter egg garland over at Eighteen25 .

"Spring" Sign

Spring is FINALLY in the air, for a couple of days at least!
I saw a similar spring board on a blog, but have no clue where.
I put my own little spin on it and I think it turned out cute.

Items you'll need:
Board
sand paper
circle stickers
paint of your choice
stencils, Cricut or letters
Mod Podge
ribbon

This craft didn't cost me anything because I had all the supplies at home. I have no clue where I bought this board, but I'm glad I can find a use for it. I saw some boards at Dollar Tree that had lame saying on them, that you could just paint over. Or they have some at JoAnns.
Here we go.
1. I sanded the rough areas.


2. Put your round stickers where ever you want dots. I learned this at one of those pottery places. It works well most often, but it depends on your stickers. I use random sizes because I didn't want all the dots the same. (FYI- the stickers on the sides didn't work as well as I hoped. It could be user error though!)

3. Paint your board with a light color. I ended up doing three coats because it wasn't as light as I wanted. It still ended up too dark by the time it dried, but I was done by then.

4. Let your paint dry all the way, then peel off your stickers. Presto. Perfect circles.
5. Paint your circles the colors you want.
6. Cut out your letters. I used Cricut's Lyrical because it had a shadow as well as normal letters.
7. Mod Podge your letters on as well as the whole board ( to get that glossy look!)


8. Put a cute ribbon as decoration.
9. Put on a cute stand. This stand I found at Dollar Tree. It had the word "friends" on the front and was black. I just took the word off and spray painted it white. I think it goes well with the sign and for $1.00 it fits my budget.
