Well hello there!!

I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted!  Thanks to all the other lovely ladies for holding down the fort while I've been M.I.A!  The holidays were super busy (as usual), but now that they're over, I'm going to get back to business!

If you've read any of my posts, you know my love for hair accessories.  I made them for my two little girls to start with, and then for friends with newborns.  I enjoyed it so much that I thought it would be fun to start a little business selling them.  It's called  Juli's Bowtique, so check it out if you want! :)  So from time to time, in between other crafts, I'm going to share some of the new creations that I've come up with.  I'd love to know what you think of them!  I'm still new at this, so any suggestions are welcome (as long as they're nice :) ).

This first one was a custom order for a friend.  She told me the general idea of what she wanted, and then just let me create!  It was so fun!

Doesn't the teal make the peacock feathers pop?  Love it!  She also requested a small one with peacock feathers

I am loving the peacock feathers, especially since they are so popular right now!  What do you think?

Baby Gift

Hello there!!! Thanks for stopping by!!

Last week I posted about these hair clips that I made for my friend's new baby.  So today I thought I'd show you how the gift turned out and how I gave it to her. 

I hesitated buying outfits for the baby, because this is my friends second girl. Bur who can resist those adorable little girly clothes?!?! I know I can't. So I bought her a couple different outfits and headbands to match. Then I made the hair clips to go with each outfit.

I found the basket at dollar tree, and the ribbon was all from my stash. I rolled up diapers for the bottom half of the basket, 'cause who couldn't use extra diapers for a newborn?! Then I rolled each of the outfits, put the headband around it, and clipped the hair clip on. Then I just tied a bunch of ribbon to the handles. I think it turned out so cute, and it's definitely a unique way to give a gift. She can use the basket to store baby items, which is a lot more useful than a gift bag.

Flower Hair Clips

A few of my friends have had baby girls lately, and I've been loving that I have an excuse to make cute little hair things again! I bought a few outfits for each of the babies, and am making a hair clip to match each. I am in love with this first hair clip I made, and will definitely be making a few for my little girls.

Here's what you'll need:

I forgot to picture my trusty glue gun!!

I've had the flower ribbon forever, but I'm pretty sure I got it at Joanns.
The mini pearls and hair clip I found in the jewelry section at Joanns.

So I started out by cutting two pieces of felt to cover the clip with.
You could just as easily use an alligator clip, but I like the look of the felt.

Cut the flower ribbon into individual flowers, and begin gluing them to one of the pieces of felt.
I just did a layer around the outside so you wouldn't be able to see the white felt as much.

Next, I took one of the flowers, put a dab of glue on the center, and put a mini pearl on it.
I kind of folded the petals up over the pearl so when it dried it would appear 3D-ish. :)
I had to make 13 of these to cover the top.

Once you're done covering the top, you need to attach the clip to the other piece of felt.
I put the clip on top of the felt and put dots where I needed to cut.

Cut a line between the dots, and put the clip through

I glued the clip to the felt, and then glued the two pieces of felt together.

And that's it!! I love that you can either put it in their hair or clip it on a headband. So cute!

A Princess Pamper Party!

This last weekend we celebrated my sweet daughters 4th birthday!
(my, how time has flown!)

She was very specific with what she wanted, which actually made things a bit easier! :) She wanted to paint nails, wear makeup, and dress up like a princess. So that's just what we did. When the girls arrived, I handed them each a purse that I made for them. Do you remember this post? Well, I made 7 more of those sweet little purses, and the girls loved them!! I gave the purses to them at the beginning, because as they went to each activity, they got something to put in their purse and take home with them.

For the first activity they had the choice to either make a necklace or color a princess picture. I was going to have them make princess crowns, but couldn't find any that were in my budget! They had fun making the necklaces, but I was grateful to have a few ladies there to help, since most of the girls needed help with this.

As they finished with their necklaces, we sent them to have their nails painted. Again, I was so thankful to have awesome friends and family to help out with this!! Once their nails were painted, they got to pick a bottle of their very own polish. I got these at e.l.f. Cosmetics for $.50 a piece. Not bad!! They also got a tube of lip gloss to put in their purses.

After this we let them get dressed up as princesses and played a few games.

For this one they passed the present around to music. When the music stopped, that person got to take off a layer of wrapping paper. Inside the box, Jacki made play makeup for each girl, inspired by Heathers awesome post here! So fun! The girls were excited to have something else to add to their purses!

And last it was time for lunch and cupcakes!

I decided to keep the pink and purple theme going with the food! We had strawberries, purple grapes, pink and purple jello in the shape of 4's, pink strawberry whoppers, purple licorice,pink and white frosted animal cookies, pb&j sandwiches in the shape of crowns, and pink lemonade to drink.

My daughter's favorite princess right now is Rapunzel, and she really wanted a Rapunzel cake. I finally found this tutorial over at Bakerella, and figured I could pull it off!

It didn't quite turn out like I'd expected, but Emily LOVED it! She was super excited! I decided to just make cupcakes for the girls to eat. I found the cute cupcake liners at Joanns for $3. I made the cupcake stand after seeing them all over blogland. I got the three plates and two candle holders from dollar tree. $5 for a gorgeous cupcake stand?? Who could resist!?

Here are the girls (minus 1) with their purses. At the end of the party, they all got bracelets and rings to put in their purses, princess fruit snacks, plus a Rapunzel party bag that Emily HAD to have!

Overall, the party went really well. It was a party that I would have loved when I was a little girl! I think maybe I'm reliving my childhood through my daughter!! :) Happy Birthday sweet Emily!!

Little Girl's Purse

My middle kiddo is turning 4 in two weeks (sniff, sniff), so I've been working on preparations for her birthday.  She is such a girly girl, which I LOVE!! She decided that for this birthday she wanted to have a 'girl party'. We'll be painting nails, putting on makeup, and dressing up like princesses.  So to go along with the girl theme, I thought I'd make little purses for the girls to take their favors home in.  I'm not a seamstress like Heather or Mother Hen, so I needed something really easy.  I found the perfect idea at Skip to my Lou .  It's even easy enough that you can have your little one help!  So here's how mine turned out

She has a great tutorial if you want to see directions. I love that there's no need for a pattern. She actually uses her daughters favorite princess dvd to determine the size, and she uses bracelets for the handles. The hardest part for me was hand stitching the top of the bag over the bracelets. Other than that, it was very simple!  Now I just have 7 more to make!!

Play Make-up

If you have a little girl like me then they probably have gotten into your make-up. My 3 year old has been known to come out of the bathroom with BRIGHT rosy cheeks and HUGE black streaks by her eyes. It's really hard to get too mad when she comes and says "Look Mom I look like a princess!"

I solved this problem by making her her own make-up.


I read on craft blog a good long while ago about how they made play make-up for their little princesses. I can't remember where I saw it to give them the credit but I did remember how they did it.

It is way EASY.......

all you need is empty make-up containers (brand new or you could just use your empty make-up containers) and nail polish.

**I got a new empty eye shadow container at Target for only $1 and nail polish for $1.

So to do this all you have to do is pour your desired color of nail polish into the EMPTY slots and let dry (for at least 24 hours) and VOILA there you have it.....Princess Play Make-up. You could also put a princess sticker on the front of the container to make it more Princess-like!!

My little girl has had soooo much with her new make-up. She hasn't once tried to get into mine now that she has her own & now we all get to wear her Princess Make-up daily, even Daddy!!!
